Why is IT so Hard?

There are a lot of reasons people give for IT being so hard. This perception is typically embodied by the services or lack of services a particular IT department can provide. Networks, computers, servers, applications, mobile phones, firewalls and databases all make up a system. Typically these individual elements of the system may or may not play nice with the other aspects of the system.

A change in the firewall can prevent access to an application that was unanticipated. Upgrading backup software may make backups incompatible with hardware devices like tape drives. Too many technologies can turn your IT department into a “Jack of all Trades and a Master of None” resulting in only surface knowledge of important applications. The real challenge here is that a lot of these incompatibilities get introduced over time and you don’t realize the impact until it is too late. A power outage, a virus infection, systems being compromised by hackers, a failed disk drive or an old battery in a UPS can all mean painful wake up calls for small to midsized businesses who cannot afford the resources with the deep knowledge that can prevent these issues from occurring.

At Principium Technologies, we understand the entire system and our tested IT processes help us make sure things do not fall through the cracks. Think of us as an insurance policy against painful and common IT failures.
